Bio

Coach David Melfi is a former Division I and professional catcher with two years of experience at the professional level. Born on Staten Island, NY and currently residing in Wall, NJ, Coach Melfi brings a high-level playing background and a passion for player development to every athlete he works with. He competed professionally in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball with the Staten Island FerryHawks (2024–2025) and the Lancaster Stormers (2024).

Coach Melfi played Division I baseball at Wagner College from 2019–2024, where he established himself as one of the premier catchers in the country. In 2023, he was named a Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Semi-Finalist (Top 13 nationally) and earned numerous accolades including ABCA/Rawlings Northeast All-Region First Team, All-ECAC Team, and Northeast Conference All-Conference and All-Tournament Team honors. He was also selected to D1Baseball.com’s Top 50 Catchers list in both 2023 and 2024 and appeared on the Buster Posey Award Watch List four times during his collegiate career.

A standout high school player at Jackson Liberty High School, Coach Melfi was the 2019 Shore Conference Player of the Year, a First-Team All-State selection, and the 2018 Ocean County Player of the Year. He remains the school’s all-time leader in hits, home runs, and RBIs and was a member of the 2017 Jersey Shore Carpenter Cup Championship team.
